How to Personalize Your Item/Mug
A complete guide to customizing your order at Seasonal Home and Garden Mart
Every personalized mug/item you order from us is made to order. You design it, we print it. This guide walks you through every customization option available — from adding a name to uploading a photo to using our AI portrait tool — so your finished mug looks exactly the way you imagined it.
All customization happens directly on the product page, in real time. You will see a live preview of your design on the mug before you add anything to your cart.
Adding Personalized Text
Most of our mugs/items include one or more text fields where you can enter a name, message, date, or any short phrase you want printed on the mug.
How to add text:
- Find the text field
On the product page, scroll to the customization panel below the product image. You will see a text field labeled with its purpose, such as “Name,” “Message,” or “Your Text.”
- Type your text
Click inside the field and type your personalization. If the field supports multiple lines, press Enter to start a new line.
- Watch the preview update
Your text appears on the mug preview in real time as you type. Check the placement, size, and appearance before proceeding.
- Review the character limit
Each field has a maximum character count shown below it. Keep your text within this limit for the best print result.
Note: Each text field has its own position on the mug. A field labeled “Name” will print in a different location than one labeled “Message.” Both will be shown in the preview.
Choosing a Font
When a font selector is available, you can choose from a curated set of typefaces to match the occasion or your personal style.
- Checkk the font menu to see available options.
- Select a font to instantly update the preview.
- Some fonts suit formal occasions such as weddings or anniversaries. Others are more playful and casual. The preview will show you exactly how your text looks in each font.
Note: Not all products include a font selector. If no selector is shown, a font has been pre-selected to best match the design of that mug.
Choosing a Text Color
If a text color picker is available, you can select any color to match your design, the mug/item color, or a theme.
- Click the color swatch to open the color picker.
- Choose a color by clicking within the color field, adjusting the hue slider, or entering a specific hex code if you have one.
- The preview updates immediately so you can compare colors before deciding.
Note: On dark mugs/items, light-colored text such as white or yellow tends to be the most readable. On white mugs/items, darker colors work best.
Selecting a Design
Some products include a design picker that lets you choose from a set of pre-made graphic elements to include on your mug/item alongside your text.
- Browse the available designs shown as thumbnail swatches.
- Click a design to select it. It will appear on the mug/item in the preview at a fixed position.
- Designs are positioned separately from text, so both can appear on the mug/item at the same time.
- To remove a selected design, click it again to deselect.
Uploading Your Own Photo
Several of our mugs/items allow you to upload a personal photo — a pet, a family portrait, a landscape, or any image you would like printed directly on the mug.
How to upload a photo:
- Click the upload area
In the customization panel, find the upload box labeled “Upload Your Photo” or “Your Photo.” Click anywhere inside it to open your file browser.
- Select your image
Choose a JPG, PNG, or WEBP file from your device. Maximum file size is 10 MB.
- Review the preview
Your photo will appear on the mug in the designated position. Some products apply a shape mask such as a circle or oval to give the photo a framed appearance.
- Remove and try again if needed
If you want to use a different photo, click the Remove button and upload a new file.
Tips for the best result:
- Use a photo with good lighting and a clear subject. Avoid dark or blurry images.
- Portraits and close-up shots work better than wide landscape photos on mugs/items.
- The photo will be cropped to fit the designated area on the mug/item. Center your subject in the frame for best results.
- Higher resolution images produce sharper prints. Aim for at least 1000 x 1000 pixels.
AI Portrait Transformation
Our AI portrait mugs/items are one of a kind. You upload a photo of your pet, family member, or yourself, and our AI transforms it into a styled portrait — Renaissance royalty, pirate crew, watercolor painting, and more depending on the listing.
The style is defined by the listing itself. Each listing describes the portrait style in the product title and shows you an example image in the style selector.
How it works:
- Choose your style
If the listing offers more than one style, you will see style swatches at the top of the customization panel. Each swatch shows an example portrait in that style. Click the one you want.
- Upload your photo
Click the upload area and select a JPG, PNG, or WEBP photo from your device. Your original photo will appear as a thumbnail in the upload box.
- Click Generate AI Portrait
Once your photo is uploaded, click the blue Generate AI Portrait button. The AI will process your image — this typically takes 10 to 30 seconds.
- Review the result on the mug
When the transformation is complete, the AI-generated portrait will appear on the mug/item in the preview. If you want to try again — with a different photo or a different style — click Regenerate.
- Add to cart
When you are happy with the result, add the mug/item to your cart. The AI-generated image will be saved with your order and used for printing.
Tips for the best AI portrait:
- Use a clear, well-lit photo with the subject facing forward or at a slight angle.
- Close-up photos of faces work best. The AI focuses on the main subject of the image.
- Avoid photos with cluttered or busy backgrounds. A plain background helps the AI identify and transform the subject accurately.
- Pet photos work especially well. Dogs, cats, and other animals translate beautifully into portrait styles.
- If the first result does not look right, try a different photo. Lighting and angle make a big difference.
Note: The AI transformation is powered by Google Gemini. Results may vary depending on the photo. We recommend reviewing the preview carefully before adding to cart.
Selecting an Item or Mug Color
Many of our mugs/items are available in multiple colors such as black and white. The color selector appears above the customization panel as either a dropdown or color swatches.
- Select your preferred color before personalizing. The mug preview will update to show the correct background.
- Text and design positions remain the same across colors. Only the mug/item background changes.
- Color availability varies by product and is shown on the product page.
Using the Live Preview
The large image on the left side of the product page is your live preview. It updates in real time as you make changes.
- The preview shows your text, chosen design, uploaded photo, and AI portrait all composited together on the mug/item.
- Use the preview to check that your text fits, your photo is positioned correctly, and the overall design looks balanced.
- The preview is a close representation of the final print. Minor variations in color and scale may occur due to the printing process.
- To zoom in, take a screenshot of the preview area on your device.
Adding to Cart and Placing Your Order
- Complete your customization
Fill in all required fields. Required fields are marked with an asterisk. You will not be able to add the item to your cart until all required fields are completed.
- Select a quantity and color
Use the quantity selector and color menu on the product page.
- Click Add to Cart
Your personalized design is saved automatically when you add the item to your cart.
- Review your cart
Go to your cart to confirm the item and quantity before checking out.
- Complete checkout
Enter your shipping and payment details. Once your order is placed, we begin production immediately.
Note: Because each item/mug is made to order with your personalization, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges for customized items. Please review your preview carefully before placing your order.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I see exactly what my mug will look like before I order?
Yes. The live preview on the product page shows your personalization applied to the mug/item in real time. This includes your text, chosen font and color, any design elements, your uploaded photo, and the AI portrait if applicable. Review the preview carefully before adding to your cart.
Q: What file types can I upload for photos?
We accept JPG, PNG, and WEBP files. The maximum file size is 10 MB. For the sharpest print quality, use a high-resolution image of at least 1000 x 1000 pixels.
Q: How long does the AI portrait take to generate?
The AI transformation typically takes 10 to 30 seconds after you click the Generate button. Please wait for the result to appear on the mug preview before adding to cart.
Q: Can I generate the AI portrait more than once?
Yes. After the first result appears, a Regenerate button will be shown. You can click it to try again with the same photo, or remove your photo and upload a different one first.
Q: What if I am not happy with the AI result?
Try a different photo. Results vary depending on the lighting, angle, and clarity of the original image. A well-lit, forward-facing close-up generally produces the best portraits. If you continue to have difficulty, please contact us before placing your order.
Q: Can I change my personalization after placing my order?
We begin production immediately after an order is placed. If you need to make a change, please contact us within one hour of ordering. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but changes cannot be guaranteed once production has started.
Q: Is there a character limit for text fields?
Yes. Each text field has a maximum character count shown below the field on the product page. This limit ensures your text fits correctly within the print area. The character counter updates as you type.
Q: Why does my text look different in the preview vs. the final item/mug?
The preview is a digital representation of your design and is very close to the final print. Minor differences in color, brightness, or scale may occur due to the nature of sublimation printing on the item surface. We recommend using high-contrast text colors for the clearest result.
Q: Can I order the same mug with different personalizations?
Yes. Add the first personalized version to your cart, then return to the product page to configure a second version with different text or photo and add that to your cart as well.
Q: Who do I contact if something goes wrong?
Please use the Contact page on our website. Include your order number and a description of the issue and we will respond within one business day.
